Data Visualization Examples

See below some of the examples of the data visualization projects which I have worked on.

My 2 step approach to data visualization is:

  1. Simplify users lives through modern, intuitive interfaces.
    • When illustrating complex data relationships, the goal is to provide clarity. While visualizing data I come up with a method to display data that minimizes clutter, promotes focus and strives to achieve an “efficient communication of complex quantitative data.” (Edward Tufte)

  2. Empower users through intelligent, personalized displays.
    • In addition to providing clarity, successful data visualization informs users and provides insights necessary to make decisions.

Data Visualization Best Practices

Keep Visualizations and dashboards Simple and Digestible

Strive for an immediate understanding of what the data represents

Focus on Data

Keep controls and additional content to a minimum. Use progressive display to provide access to detailed content.

Eliminate Redundancy

Do not include multiple visual affordances for the same information

Give Users Control

Include effective and intuitive controls for allowing users to configure the data.

Choose Right Type of Chart

How do you know which type of data visual works best? When selecting the visual consider one of the following - tables, line chart, area chart, bar chart, scatterplots (bubble charts), pie charts and donut charts, heatmap, etc.

Seqoria (Zero Trust Intelligent Overlay)

Seqoria is a security platform for multi-architecture networks which provides layered security across full OSI stack at Solution level. The platform offers natively embedded security at the design and architecture level within on-prem, hybrid and multi-cloud topologies in SDN/Non-SDN environments.

Commercial Analytics (CA)

CA simplifies and enables consistent decision making by delivering unique and actionable insights that drive forward-looking strategies and allows airlines to progress towards total revenue optimization (revenue per passenger vs. revenue per seat). CA empowers smarter decisions, drive faster actions and optimize outcomes across the airline commercial department to:

Market Problems

  • Imperfect insights into changing network and market trends
  • Sub-optimal revenue outcomes due to departmental silos
  • Limited visibility into customer segments and buying behaviors

Market Problems being addressed by:

  • Integrated Market Metrics enable better decisions through comprehensive macro-level metrics around total revenue performance
  • Proration Engine provides visibility into accurate, real-time revenue estimates, including interline and codeshare
  • Customer Segmentation Analyzer leverages deeper customer insights to drive decisions
  • Predictive Intelligence drives focused resolution via recommendations and guided drill-down analysis

Sabre AirVision Fares Manager

Optimize price and availability to account for segment, willingness to pay and competition

Fares Manager is a tool that allows airlines to stay competitive by actively managing fares and distributing through all channels, as well as recommends which one should be available at specific times to maximize revenue. This is the brains of the platform, which makes smart recommendations based on advanced algorithms through forecasting demand, predicting customer behavior and optimizig network revenue.

Intelligence Exchange (IX) Insights

  • It’s kind of like an all-inclusive reporting platform that has all the data, all the time. The person or group who uses it is airline personnel, either on the commercial or operational side. Currently, they struggle because data needed for insights, reporting and dashboards is disparate and siloed which drives manual work.
  • In a perfect world, they would be able to go to a single portal to gain quick insight into their area of the business and make efficient decisions based on the data provided without having to go elsewhere as well.
  • This would be awesome because this would position Sabre and IX as a one-stop shop for data and business intelligence in the airline space removing the need for airlines to make large investments in other solutions or build on their own.
